Ketkrókur or Meat Hook (23rd Dec.) is the 12th Yule Lad to make his journey down from the mountains. Upon coming to a dwelling, he first climbs up onto the roof above the kitchen. Ketkrókur has thoughtfully brought along a long, hooked pole which he then eases down through the chimney. With amazing prowess, he proceeds to steal the smoked meat hanging from the rafters - sometimes even reaching all the way down into the pot for the smoked lamb that was traditionally boiled on this day! Heute Ketkrókur kommt aus den Bergen angereist. Wenn er zu einer Siedlung kommt, erklimmt er das Dach der Küche. Cleverer Weise hat er sich eine lange Stange mit einem Haken am Ende mitgebracht. Mit beachtlichem Geschick schiebt er diese Stange durch den Schornstein - bis zu der geräucherten Wurst. Manchmal reicht die Stange sogar bis in den Topf mit dem geräucherten Lamm, dass traditionell am heutigen Tage gekocht wird.
